Recently, Amy Garbrick and the Learning Design staff sent an email to our online faculty requesting they complete a quick survey to gather feedback on faculty communication preferences and possible updates to our Course Template.
We are happy to report that 41 faculty members took the time to respond! Thank you! Here are the results (faculty-feedback-survey-default-report). Names were omitted to protect the privacy of those providing comments.
Our results indicated that faculty may like to have a monthly email from us which summarizes Canvas updates and other learning design pertinent information. In addition, faculty seemed supportive of course template design changes the Learning Design staff are currently exploring based on the Canvas User Survey results.
Thank you again to all those who took the time to respond! More on these efforts soon…
Copy of the email sent to faculty on September 19th:
Dear IST faculty member—
As you know, the College of IST has been transitioning courses from ANGEL to Canvas. We appreciate your time and support during this transition time! We have 100% of our Fall16 World Campus course sections in Canvas.
As the dust settles from this busy transition period and now that you have some experience with Canvas, we’d like to get some feedback from our faculty through a short survey which should take less than 5 minutes of your time.
The survey strives to gather faculty feedback on Canvas-related communications. Canvas releases updates every 3 weeks, which underscores the need for communication and adaptability. We’d like to hear from you how best to communicate what’s happening with Canvas and IST Learning Design.
The survey also asks for faculty feedback on some possible updates to our Course Template. These proposed changes are based on data gathered from resent research efforts on student preferences and interactions with Canvas. We feel these proposed changes would be in the best interest of students and responsive to their learning needs.
Again, we appreciate your time and help. We ask that you take the survey by C.O.B. Monday Sept 26th. The survey is located at: https://pennstate.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_5hUg0aFK4DllUs5 (Note: Survey now closed)
