UP Resident Classroom Photos
The IST Teaching site recently had a makeover (check it out here). During the redesign, we realized we are in need of updated photographs of instructors teaching in their classes. If you are available to have photos taken during your resident University Park classes, please contact our multimedia specialist Aimee Brown-Shadduck at asb193@psu.edu, or message her via Teams.
List of Learning Designers
Teaching a World Campus course this semester? Not sure who can be helping you from the Office of Learning Design? Look no further! This list shows the lead and back-up designers for all World Campus courses.
Video Captioning Decision Tree and Automation Tip
It is University Policy to have captions enabled for most video content with few exceptions (decision tree here). One of the perks of utilizing Kaltura for video content is their machine generated captioning (which is more accurate than zoom auto captions). Did you know you can set up an automation to order machine captions for any video you add to a channel or media gallery? Simply click the icon with the 3 lines, and from the drop down menu select “+ Services ordering rules” and select submit.
Bloom’s Taxonomy
Are you designing or teaching a course and having trouble finding the language to represent your objectives? Consider Bloom’s Taxonomy! This categorization tool is used to be specific about the learning and activities for learning that students should be doing. Set up a consultation with an instructional designer today to discuss Bloom’s Taxonomy and to help you more effectively communicate your expectations to your students.
Request World Campus Course Templates
If you are teaching a Resident Instruction (RI) version of a College of IST course, you can request a copy of the World Campus (WC) course template for that course. Many of the courses that run in residence have an online WC version, and while the format is different from the RI section, you may find useful elements that you can utilize in your course. You can also request the RI shell or just the Academic Integrity module. Make sure that you also contact the course committee chair for info about the course.
Learning Design Support
The Learning Design team is available to help you! Email the Learning Design team with specific questions or to schedule a consultation at istlearningdesign@psu.edu and one of the team members will get back to you as soon as possible.
