Tech Tip – TopHat
Did you know you can take attendance and add both asynchronous or synchronous engagement in TopHat? For those of you interested in learning more, the IT Learning and Development group has resources on TopHat.
Inclusive Teaching Resources
- You and your students can add pronouns next to your name in Canvas. For more information on this, refer to the Canvas guide on adding personal pronouns.
- Review Inclusive Course Elements you might be able use in your class. Ideas include: introductions, group formation, and recommended documents.
Expect Changes with Zoom Recordings for Courses
See Zoom at Penn State’s News site for the latest information about Zoom cloud storage phase out. Find All Your Zoom Recordings in Kaltura.
Resident Instruction (RI) Course Templates
Much like the World Campus Canvas shell and course templates, the Learning Design team has a Residential Instruction (RI) Canvas shell. This template is available upon request at the Course Copy Request form. Scroll to the bottom of the course number list to see the “RI Shell” selection
YouTube Settings Change
YouTube changed the visibility of all unlisted videos uploaded before 2017 to Private. This change means links and embeds to them will no longer work for students. You can change the setting back to unlisted. Learning Design has moved most of the IST World Campus videos to Kaltura; however, some videos may still be on YouTube. Faculty may also have their channels and videos affected by this change. For questions or help with this YouTube change, contact your instructional designer.
