SP19 World Campus Courses Ready Soon
Our offices are hard at work preparing for the SP19 semester. If you are teaching a World Campus course in SP19, courses should be ready by mid-December. Your Instructional Designer will notify you when your section is ready.
Here are some important upcoming SP19 dates:
*Mid-December: Individual SP19 sections ready for WC teaching faculty
*December 24 – January 1: Penn State offices are closed
* Week of January 2: Preview week
*January 7: SP19 semester starts
We look forward to another great semester with our teaching faculty!
Upcoming Online Meetings
We hope you will join us for our upcoming Online Teaching and Learning meeting, taking place on Friday, November 30th from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. This month’s topic will address accessibility and we are pleased to have several World Campus accessibility experts joining us. The meeting will take place via Zoom and we hope you will be able to join us.
As a special note, this will be our last online meeting of 2018. The next meeting will happen on Friday, January 25th.
Our Online Teaching and Learning Meetings typically happen the last Friday every month, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. via Zoom. Meetings will be recorded for those who are unable to attend. The recording will be placed in Box. If you would like to suggest an agenda topic, please contact Amy Garbrick at agarbrick@ist.psu.edu.
Adobe Connect Going Away….
Penn State is transitioning away from Adobe Connect. This tool will be in a ‘read-only’ state beginning Monday, December 17th. If you are a faculty member who still has recordings on Adobe Connect we advise you to take a copy of your recording soon. On Friday, May 17th, Adobe Connect will be completely retired and you will no longer have access to any previous recordings.
…But Kaltura is Here!
To replace Adobe Connect, Penn State has introduced Kaltura as the complementary media management partner to Zoom. Together, faculty can host online conferences in Zoom and record them directly to Kaltura, where they can be organized and shared. Kaltura also integrates Canvas and offers a range features to create and enhance media, including screencasting software, video quizzes, and viewer analytics.
Office 365 Training
With Penn State’s move to Office 365, we wanted to let faculty know that a whole host of self-paced training is available on the various tools available. This training can be accessed by faculty, staff, and students who will also have access to Office 365. More on the training can be found online at: http://office365.psu.edu/training/
Canvas Day Proposals Being Accepted!
There is still time to submit your proposal for Canvas Day being held Friday, March 15, 2019. If you are doing something unique within Canvas, Canvas Day is a great way to let other faculty and learning design professionals know! Proposals are due by Monday, December 3rd and may be submitted online.
