Canvas Updates

Canvas is planning on releasing its next update on November 19th. Not all of the updates may apply to Penn State’s usage of Canvas. Of note:

Calendar
The Calendar Week and Agenda Views will be updated to simplify the look and feel.

Faculty may view information regarding updates directly from Canvas.

Canvas Tip: Allow Individual Students an Extra Quiz Attempt

Canvas allows instructors to make special accommodations for students who need an extra quiz attempt or to have extra time taking a quiz.

To update quiz settings for individual or multiple students, simply navigate to the “Moderate this Quiz” button to see quiz settings and different options that can be applied. More on this topic can be found through Canvas.

Blooms Taxonomy

Did you know that Bloom’s Taxonomy is a theoretical framework that’s been helping educators conceptualize learning for over 50 years? Bloom’s Taxonomy is a great way to think about different degrees of content mastery and a valuable point of reference when designing level-appropriate lessons and assignments. More information can be found online.

Welcome Brian and Trisha!

The Learning Design team is happy to announce we recently filled two vacant positions; Tisha Edor left the College in January and Ravi Patel left in April.

Brian Daigle earned a MS in Instructional Technology and BA in Psychology and Film Production. Most recently he worked at the Center for Academic Innovation at Western Oregon University.

Trisha McKee is an Instructional Production Specialist (IPS). Trisha earned a BA in English from Penn State and has done work in customer service, technical writing and editing, and online tutoring.

Additionally, we wanted to reintroduce Howard Ings who works as a part-time multimedia specialist. Howard will soon be celebrating his one year anniversary at IST!
